SUMMARY:Seminar: Election Security in the Surge of Political Violence: Prot
 ecting People, Facilities, and Processes
DESCRIPTION:In recent years, the United States has witnessed an alarming ri
se in political violence targeting elections and elected officials. From s
watting incidents and bomb threats to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, tar
geted shootings of lawmakers, and arson at the home of a governor, these t
hreats undermine public trust and pose significant risks to the physical s
afety of election officials, law enforcement, and voters.\n\n\nAs leaders
on the front lines of democracy, law enforcement plays a pivotal role in e
nsuring that elections remain free, fair, and secure. The cooperative effo
rts of law enforcement and election officials, years-long preparation, and
coordination across all government levels prove critical in conducting sa
fe and secure elections.\n\n\nThis session will explore how partnerships b
etween election officials and law enforcement agencies helped ensure the i
ntegrity and resilience of the 2024 election and the lessons learned from
law enforcement across the country that will help as they look ahead.\n\n\
nThis session will also identify and analyze all the bomb threats and hoax
es that targeted the 2024 election, provide law enforcement with a clear u
nderstanding of what happened, and discuss best practices to mitigate this
threat in future elections. It will also discuss new emerging threats suc
h as drones and how they could be used to create chaos and destruction, be
fore or on election day.\n\n\nBy analyzing case studies and real-world out
comes, participants will learn how collaborative efforts by law enforcemen
t and election officials bolstered voter confidence, addressed security th
reats, and supported the execution of secure elections. In addition, state
-specific law enforcement quick reference guides and other resources will
 be provided.\n\n\nhttps://nsaconf.org
