FEEDBACK
Despite the recent progress made in the field at expanding access to treatment and recovery supports in corrections, there is work to be done to enhance care for individuals suffering from substance use disorder during and after a period of incarceration. These efforts must occur upon intake at the facility, throughout their time while incarcerated, and during reentry. The session will describe how correctional agencies have leveraged federal resources to implement programs designed to manage, treat, and support individuals with substance use disorders, highlighting specific elements of their programs, including withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment, and reentry supports using navigators and peers. During the presentation, panelists will share experiences related to hiring and retention of staff, partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and the use of data to support programming.
