Scott Nichols

Sheriff - Franklin County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Scott Nichols, a lifelong Franklin County resident, has over 40 years of law enforcement and military service. A U.S. Army paratrooper and veteran of the Maine State Police, he served as a trooper, detective, sergeant, and Tactical Team member, earning multiple commendations. After retiring from the State Police, he worked as a security contractor in Iraq, then returned to Maine to serve as Chief of Police in Carrabassett Valley before being elected Franklin County Sheriff in 2012. Sheriff Nichols serves as 1st Vice President of the Maine Sheriffs Association and sits on the boards of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and County Corrections Professional Standards Council.
