Sheriff - Loudoun County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Mike Chapman has served as Loudoun County Sheriff since 2012 and was reelected to a fourth term in 2023. He was named the National Sheriffs’ Association’s “Sheriff of the Year” in 2023 and has been repeatedly recognized as Loudoun County’s “Best Public Servant.” He leads Virginia’s largest sheriff’s office with a $133M budget and nearly 900 personnel, serving a population of over 447,000. Under his leadership, the agency expanded DARE programs, created a Cold Case squad, improved public outreach, modernized hiring, and launched the region’s leading Crisis Intervention Team training. A retired DEA agent and former Howard County Police officer, Chapman also serves on several national and state law enforcement boards and holds advanced training from the FBI, Army War College, and other top institutions.
