Sheriff - Canyon County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Kieran Donahue is serving his third term as Sheriff of Canyon County, Idaho, and will begin his fourth in January 2025. He currently serves as the 84th President of the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA), the first Idaho Sheriff to hold this role. Throughout his tenure, he has served on multiple NSA committees and the Board of Directors, championing issues including border security, domestic violence, and crime victim services. Sheriff Donahue also plays a key role in Idaho law enforcement leadership, serving as Vice Chair of the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission and Chair of the Idaho Sheriffs’ Association Legislative Committee. Donahue began his law enforcement career as a Conservation Officer in Alaska and joined the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office in 2004, where he worked his way up through roles including major crimes detective and FBI Task Force Officer. As Sheriff, he oversees a full-service agency of over 300 staff and a $40 million budget. A nationally recognized speaker and expert on border issues and cartel-related crime, he also co-founded the Man Up Crusade with his wife, Jeanie, a nonprofit focused on domestic violence awareness.
